Abstract

The authors submit this paper for consideration at the XI National Postgraduate Congress. It analyzes, based on the experiences of the Master's program in Administration and Development of Education (MADE) taught at the School of Commerce and Administration, the connection that can be established between master's programs in education and the rest of the education system.
This paper is based on two general premises. The first states that the National Education System, starting with basic education, faces serious problems related primarily to its efficiency and quality. These problems need to be resolved as quickly as possible, especially considering the significant challenges Mexico faces in training properly qualified human resources.

The second relates to the social relevance that master's programs in education should have and analyzes their potential to contribute to correcting the problems mentioned above, considering that this level of study has professionals duly trained in the field of education, as well as sufficient infrastructure to contribute to increasing the quality of the entire education system. This presentation contains four sections; the first analyzes the social relevance of postgraduate programs in education, in order to obtain elements that will support the possible connection between these programs and the rest of the education system.

The second section analyzes the possible links that could be established between postgraduate programs in education in light of the requirements of the education system, in terms of the training of teachers and management and intermediate personnel in administration and management, and the development of potential lines of research.
The third section presents the experience of the MADE program in the three aspects mentioned above, and the final section presents some proposals to strengthen the link that should exist between master's programs in education and the education system.
