THE TUTORIAL MODEL, A STRATEGY FOR DOCTORAL TRAINING IN THE 21ST CENTURY: THE CASE OF THE DOCTORATE IN ADMINISTRATIVE SCIENCES AT SEPI - ESCA - STO. TOMÁS, IPN

Abstract

The political and economic situation of the present world have favoured changes of paradigms in the political, social and economic sector of life in consequence, the answers are also different, for example the formation of specialists in charged of the development of science and technology, based on research, The Phd. Programmers based on research are one of the parts to achieve this purpose.
These programmers offer the opportunity to arrive to innovative knowledge in different areas, such as the administrative sciences where new lines have been defined to solve present problem in this field; and research has also occupied an important place.
This is the case of the Phd. Programmer in administrative sciences of the Section of Posgraduated Studies and Research of the High School of Commerce and Administration (ESCA),'campus Sto. Tomas of the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN). This programmer has a s a main purpose to prepare researchers in Administrative Sciences, through a tutorial model of teaching. Therefore, in this work the argument is that given the world open conditions and the globalization, it is considered that one of the ways to prepare researchers capable to favour, here, the development of the Administrative Sciences is only through flexible training patterns, such as the tutorial model of teaching, which allows students to be directly linked to the research practice.
Thus, this paper has, as a main purpose, to review the elements that characterize the tutorial model of teaching, especially the one that is offered by the SEPI- ESCA, Sto. Tomas. It is divided into three parts: first a historical context is included in order to highlight the beginning of this school, the posgraduated section, as well as the Phd. Programmer; secondly, it is presented a theoretical part where the tutorial model of teaching in under review, and the third part includies some of the tendencies in this field that could appear in the near future. With this, is the intention to emphasis that the tutorial model of teaching is the ideal path for the formation of doctors in Administrative Sciences.
