Agro-industrial clusters in the state of Veracruz

Abstract

The research analyze the clusters of agroindustry fruits and vegetables from the state of Veracruz in its main products: orange, persian lemon, papaya, pineapple, banana, chayote and green chilli by location theory and economic geography (North y Krugman, 1995); the system value of the cluster (Porter, 1998) and the cluster type (Ramos, 1998; Altenburg, Meyer y Stamer 1999); to know the geographic concentration of companies that are interconnected, identify the functions of the cluster value and type of cluster to which they belong.
The main contribution of this paper, lies in the analysis of the cluster under study through the three theories mentioned above, where the geographical concentration of enterprises have interdependencies of raw materials- product processing, and market - product processing, the functions of the value of the cluster are in primary activities and type ofcluster is Latin American Fordist mode or mass production.

She holds a PhD in Administrative Sciences from the IPN (National Institute of Technology and Esca), a Master of Science in Business Administration from the School of Commerce and Administration, Santo Tomás Unit, of the National Polytechnic Institute, and a Bachelor's degree in Accounting. She is a Category B professor at the Instituto Tecnológico Superior de Álamo Temapache, Veracruz, Mexico, and a consultant for the Tecnológico's business incubator in the area of ​​Administration. Luis Arturo Rivas Tovar, Escuela Superior de Comercio y Administración Unidad Santo Tomás, IPN

He holds a PhD in Administrative Sciences from the IPN in Mexico and a PhD in European Studies from the Ortega y Gasset Institute. He is a professor in the graduate section of the Santo Tomás School of Commerce and Administration, and a visiting professor at the Polytechnic University of Madrid.
