Abstract

A recent study by Korn/Ferry International revealed that 31% of senior executives in Fortune 500 companies began their careers in management positions in professional-technical fields (engineering, legal department, etc.), 28% in finance-accounting, 19% in marketing-sales, and only 4% began their careers in general management (Sussman, 1979, p. 16).

JOSAFAT ADÁN FIGUEROA, National Polytechnic Institute

He holds a PhD in Higher Education Administration from the University of Alabama. He is a researcher at the Graduate School of ESCA at the IPN and the National Pedagogical University.
