Honorable members of the Presidium, distinguished guests, colleagues and friends, ladies and gentlemen,
It has been more than three decades since Dr. Pablo Latapí began his journalistic work with his first article, "Education and Social Justice," which appeared in Excélsior in 1964, and his last was published last week in November 1996.
Analyzing the multiple aspects of his journalistic work in educational and social research would take days. In general terms, several facets of Dr. Latapí's personality can be perceived in it. Among them, those of a concise and precise researcher; a critical analyst of public education policy; a chronicler of emerging problems in national education; a key promoter of educational research groups and organizations; and a professional educator.
