Abstract

Based on the results of the Project called “Experiencias logros y desafíos en la formación de directivos para la educación básica” (“Experiences, achievements and challenges of principal preparation for basic education”), related to the achievements obtained by the courses of principal preparation offered by the Subsecretaría de Educación Básica (Sub ministry of Basic Education), as well as by numerous private and some public institutions, during the 2000-2006 Administration, in six states of Mexico, a survey was applied to a probabilistic sample of 110 principals (50 from the State of México and 60 from the Federal District), who have been up to three years in office.
The aim was to systematize the principals' experiences when facing management problems - in a context of change of paradigms in the Mexican Educational System. In this work, the methodology known as Focus Group was used.
