Resumen
The aim of the present study is the analysis of the perception of insecurity, regarding it as the result of media diffusion considering public security policies. In that sense, a review of studies on the perception of risk, uncertainty, violence and crime was performed to establish levels of the perception of insecurity and specify their interrelationship. Then, we conducted a study with a nonprobability sampling of 330 community residents. Values obtained were: normal (close to 1.00 kurtosis), reliability (Cronbach ́s alphas greater than 0.60), validity (factor loadings greater than 0.300), covariance (phi correlations between 0.30 and 0.80), structure [÷2 = 14.02 (18df), p < 0.001, GFI = 0.995, RMSEA = 0.000]. Finally, from the theoretical – conceptual framework those results were analized within the hypothetical relationships established in the model, which were not only accepted. Furthermore, they were favorably contrasted with the state of knowledge. Thus, the constructo ́s reflective indicator was the attitude toward insecurity (â = 0,91).
